A fine time was had again at Ven’dara's "Thank the PK's Festival". The flagship of the Helistan fleet, the Herlit, traversed the Great Canal and tied up at Ven’dara docks to stay a few days. While Penel was at the shuffleboard field wagering against Alitha of Koroba, the slaves, mel and mari, wandered the Fair, being especially drawn to the Steel Man spar eliminations.
The main event was the first of the tarn races, the slaves being given some bina beads to place on their favourites, and all the Free, Talarius, Penelope, Aneesha and Khalid placed silver or gold. The race lived up to expectations as the dozen riders raced round the course though only Aneesha managed a profit, having backed the winner, Irmushu.
Bianci could not resist the chance to sell her dried urt ‘jerky’ ( at 9 coppers a bag! ) and found a willing victim ... umm ... customer in Khalid! Talarius played a game of Kaissa against the Ven’dara champion Tharinus. The Kaissa Master generously took his Initiate pieces from the board as handicap and the Scribe was flattered to be offered a draw after a series of slightly disadvantaged exchanges on his part. Robak and lexii joined the throng before the day’s end.
This next day will see more tarn racing, oar dancing, stave fighting and much more!
