Nothing here is meant as a personal attack, so please read with an open mind before you decide to respond.......
Judas is right in one aspect: The books haven't changed. Haigan is right in another: Gor has "evolved" all right, but certainly not for the better.
"Old Gor" is gone? I think a better analogy is "Respectable Gor" is gone. "This" Gor has become Gen-X and Millenial Gor.
It's a Gor that welcomes dishonored characters back with open arms, back to their same homes, because rules don't matter here.
It's a place where Honor no longer matters. Someone can't keep their word? Eh, no worries. Tell us your tale of woe, and we'll pat you on the back and tell you it's ok, here's your safe space, since rules don't matter here.
Dualling? No problem, you can play that part in different areas. Better yet, bring back that shelved character from 10 years ago, no one will notice. Rules don't matter here.
It's a place were more sparring takes place in the blogs, than in the arena or the pits. Hammers wield more strength than steel.
Knowledge? Who needs it? There's no need to read the books, here's a few websites and some quotes.
Want to be something? Here's some tags. Don't worry about training, just put them on and you can be instant “insert your Caste of choice here". We'll even create a place where you can do it without any training or oversight. Just go for it, no one will care. Standards be damned!
Plenty of people came to the Gorean Community Group to describe what they would do to get back to where we could be. There were some great ideas there. Did everyone agree? No, we didn't, but we still created the Trading Post to implement those ideas and give it a chance. Who was the first naysayer? None other than Haigan. The people who showed up regularly were Judas, Iskander, and myself. We're making the attempt, what happened to the rest of you?
No one cares about the Gorean Community as a whole. No one cares about the principles or authenticity of Gor any longer. You're all happy in your safe places. You make it up as you go.
And that's a shame.
