I had entered into a contract with Captain Tesla of the ship Tesla’s Wave It was docked at Port Kar and headed out two days ahead of me sailing over to Vendara Station and up the canal to Vendara. It was large enough to take my crates to Katoteros and yet small enough to navigate the canal. By the time I arrived they were docked and waiting for me. I rented a wagon and headed up the hill to Scythes Estate the home of the Wood Worker who had built the crates for me…I arrived and discovered that they were away on important business but as per arranged the crates were in the Barn and I enlisted His workers to load the wagon…with a smile on my face and a dream for a pillow under my ass…off we went back down the hill over a rather bumpy road…The crew loaded the crates and set sail for the Island. I was very pleased with the craftsmanship of the crates they were strong but plain and would fulfill my use of them. The crew laughed and joked about empty crates but were murmuring and whispering in guarded tones when they discovered they were taking them to Katoteros Island…everyone had heard the tales of warring tribes and a white light that killed them all…and Mysterious happenings to those who had ventured there…tales of Human sacrifice and captured women…they did not want to go anywhere near that place. I was aware that not two years ago The Helisto Fleet had encountered such a welcome there and had their women captured and placed in pits…Beside the open pit was left a bag and a lantern…thanks be to the Priest Kings they were rescued but to this day no one has discovered the meaning of it all.
I arrived on the Island ahead of the ship and waited for them at the appointed landing spot….as I stood on the beach looking out on the Tamber Bay I witnessed dark clouds forming and strong winds whipping the waves and I knew the ship would be in desperate trouble…Lightening flashed and the wind roared like a wild beast…
The storm lasted a bit more than an hour in Earths measurement and I watched as the Ship approached. It did not tread the water as if in the control of a crew but tattered and moved in unsteady drift till it washed up on shore and tilted over to one side…I rushed to the ship and climbed aboard finding only Captain Tesla and 3 crewman…they were holding on for dear life and spoke of the torrential storm that had washed 20 sailors out to sea…
I helped them down onto dry ground and cared for them for several days….finally we unloaded the crates and carried them to a designated spot. I spent days contemplating what happened and tried to determine if this was just a storm or was it something else connected to this star crossed place…
