Hopeful
I leave Ven'dara on my tarn, the sky is gray with clouds. Pointing the tarn towards Turia, Where my Father has passed . Arriving in time for the Ceremony.
This is the full rite as an Initiate
The body is laid on the pyre, sword unsheathed at his side, shield at his feet, his scarlet Caste colors about him. He faces the Sardar, to the north. All Free Men bare their heads.
Initiate speaks:
Hear me, Priest-Kings, Mighty Guardians of the World, who dwell in the Sardar.
We bring before you, of Turia.
He was of the Scarlet Caste, of the Warriors.
He lived by the Sword. He lived by Honor. He lived by the Home Stone of Turia.
Initiate pours oil and southern incense upon the pyre
He did not turn his back to a foe.
He did not betray his City.
He kept the Codes that are of Turia.
Let it be written that he died as he lived - Free.
Being I am the oldest son, I take the touch and light the pyre, as the sun begins to peep thru the clouds .
The fire of Turia takes his flesh, as the fire of battle once tempered it.
Let the wind of the Plains carry his name.
Let his Home Stone stand though he is gone.
All Warriors present strike spear to shield once and answer:
He was a Warrior. He was a Free Man
• His war tarn, Brutus circled once above the pyre
• His tarn-goad is broken and laid with him
• His FC cut a lock of hair and cast it into the fire as she veil herself
