It sits like a jewel
In the nearly autumn night
Peering through an almost cloudy sky
Casting off a most early light
The clouds pass beneath it
Not staying in any one place to long
The wind whispers through the trees
Singing it’s ancient and weary song
The stars give off
Their year’s distant light
Part of nature’s cast of thousands
In their performance each night
And like a tear that rolls down
The cheek of someone we love
The night ends and the jewel
Must leave its crown above
