[05:08p] banaThiery from across the room she watched the shadow beneath the floor, movement drew her gaze upwards, the door knob slowly rotating then stopping when whomever was on the other side realized the door was locked, the absence of knocking assured her it was not her Master returning, breathing in slowly as if the mere sound of inhaling might be heard from the other side
[05:11p] banaThiery without warning the shadow was gone, motionless she stood listening as the muffled sound of footsteps faded away only to be replaced by the ringing of silence in her ears, unaware she had been holding her breath she exhaled, a tremor of fear gripped her body causing her to sway, knees weakening she slumped to the floor, wanting to put distance between herself and the door, she crawled backwards to kneel closer to the window, eyes never leaving the narrow lighted space between the door and floor
[05:15p] banaThiery growing weary she shifted her position, body swaying as she leaned to the left, sliding from heels till her cute derriere was planted firmly on the floor, scooting backwards until her back pressed against the wall, she drew knees upwards toward chest, lithe arms hugging them tight helped to cradle head as her vigil watching the door began, silently she sat, eyes growing heavy till at some point she dozed off
[05:20p] banaThiery time was measured by the height of the shadows on the wall, something caused her to wake with a start, lack of light in the room caused apprehension as she looked around the room in realization she was still alone, how long had she slept? stretching as she stood she quietly walked to the side table looking down at the chronometer her Master had left, brows furrowed in confusion at the instrument which held no true answers, instead for clarification she tip toed to the window peeking out
[05:23p] banaThiery looking down at the street she could see vendors closing their shops, few patrons travelled along the street now, streaks of red mingled with orange and pink to trace the path of the a setting sun, the last rays of sunlight creeping out of sight, hidden behind the curtain she peered down at the row of buildings, picking out the markings of the different shops, first was the Butcher‘s shop, then the Bakery, she watched mental note of the Local Shop Owners
[05:27p] banaThiery it was the sound of a rowdy group of Warriors, most likely in search of a local tavern, that drew her attention, had she not followed their progress down the street she may have never noticed the odd form lurking between the buildings, staring into the abyss of the alley, watching for the longest till a chill of uneasiness swept through her body, someone was there, if she didn’t know better she would almost swear they were looking up at her
[05:31p] banaThiery pulling back from the window, hopeful from the darkened room she could not be seen looking out, peeking from behind the curtain again she had the sense of being watched, trembling a bit she stepped away, turning away from the window she moved to find the travel pack, removing the smallest of two blankets, hands ceased shaking as she unrolled the blanket crouching to spread it out on the floor beneath the window
[05:34p] banaThiery fear slowly subsiding, in the fading light she stepped to the table reaching out to lift an oblong bundle, swiftly opening the package, dainty hands twist then tear off the end portion of the small loaf, re-wrapping the remaining portion of the bread she placed it back among the other wrapped packages of food before grabbing a bota of water, the chunk of bread clutched in small fist she returned to kneel beside the window ledge
[05:39p] banaThiery for a moment she hesitated, finally giving into the hunger pangs she began to nibble at the bread, chewing with slow deliberation watched for shadows beneath the door or any noise from the other side, relishing the bread as if it were a feast reluctantly she swallowed, twisting the cork free she held the bota up tilting it towards her face yet careful not to allow her lips to touch the rim, she squeezed the leather container so that the water poured into her mouth rather than her drink from it
[05:43p] banaThiery she was just about to take another bite of bread when she heard the sound of voices…..shoving the last bit of bread into her mouth, leaning forward she crawled towards the door, tilting head sideways, almost pressing her ear against the wood, she could barely make out the snippets of conversation catching certain words… “silver”, “Asperiche”, “get it right this time” and “leave no trace”… the male voice was ominous, laced with a veiled threat that for some reason she felt was directed towards her Master
[05:46p] banaThiery just as the voices seemed to be moving towards the room she leaned closer to the door, without thinking she reached out intending to place hands flat against the wood door to balance herself, her movements resulted in her left hand hitting the door handle, the sound created although not loud would not go unnoticed, time suddenly suspended she dared not make another move, acutely aware that the talking on the other side of the door had ceased, as had the footsteps……
