In Bianciella’s “Gorean Harshness” blog, Àirlia raised the suggestion:
“I wonder... if just maybe... all of us Goreans who want to enjoy realistic Gorean Roleplay, harshness and all could agree to just for a short time to try it out and could forget for a bit what homes they belong to and roleplay all as ONE city, of course not one already in use as it is an experiment. Vote three men in charge & the rest of us obey the set rules & go for it, no holds barred, and no running from the scariness of the situation. It's a good idea, but I honestly doubt it would happen.”
I replied, “Further to what Àirlia talked of. Aneesha raised this idea some years ago and We had a discussion in Helisto this evening and the consensus was that a combined Gor room that A/all in Gor attended twice a month and in which A/all played T/their roles - initially at least without an HoC or even a location on Gor - would be an initiative worth exploring, What do O/others think of that idea??”
Penelope then responded, “Regarding Your suggestion, would the "one size fits all” room be a hold, village, city? Mainland or island? Advanced or not so much in technology? Castes or no castes? And when Ya say everyone would practice their caste, what happens if ALL get together and half just sit about? Is there a penalty or learning ops available? If there is no governmental system, who would enforce order? (Respectfully queried) ~ Penelope Z”
I've moved this discussion to a new thread .....
I suggest we base this home in Rarir, which is a small village on the Thassa about a hundred pasang north of Brundisium and 200 pasang south west of the Thassa Cartius that gives access to the Vosk. So it’s well situated geographically for roleplay purposes. It’s quite a cosmopolitan and ‘advanced’ village, having a small harbour and being close to trade routes.
The Free who enter that room are the Warriors, Builders, Scribes, Physicians, Merchants etc. of that home and their slaves remain their slaves. Initially, at least, there’s no need for an “HoC”, it would more likely be a “Head Man” anyway and he can be referred to ‘obliquely’ ... “I’ll raise that with the Head Man”. If this idea seems to be working and is well supported then some kind of election can be held. There’s no need for anybody to change their Buzzen name for the days this home will open, though it might be fun to do so.
Of course there will be differences in outlook between the “mixed bag” of Free that come together there, but I’d hope some leeway and common sense would prevail. As to “harshness”, well, let’s see how that works out.
Initially this room could open every other week and then see how it goes. For it to work I think we’ll need most, if not all, of the homes to participate as there are few enough of us as it is!

some good points Shainaa..you only seen me a few times because my r/p is so fast its like blink and ya missed me lol..but im usually around evening uk time and weekends
Part of the reason I don't come to roleplay recently is the lack of roleplaying.
The "Council" would be for the imaginary City that ALL the rpers would belong to. A General Council. In the homes You occupy now, Most only have token Councils anyway, relying upon the Administrator or Sar to take care of keeping order. In the anonymous City of Gorean Roleplay, the people Who go to ROLEPLAY would be the ones electing a governing body (Council) no matter what home They are from. That council would only be for that room. Not for the homes that You are associated normally (CONT.)
So technically, the NAME of the City could be GORANON, that is if I've understood You correctly, Talarius. And it would make sense to have a Council if it's a large enough city/village to regulate actions of the "citizens" in it. It would only be biweekly anyways
Also, since the goal of the room IS for everyone to be ROLEPLAYING, there would be less spectating and more participating. I like that. (IMHO)
Lol
This is how Gor began on the early internet. I remember the City of Lara when I bought my first computer and was exploring on Prodigy.I like the concept but has to be controlled by the council. The room would be closed to public access, the council would take requests from true Goreans who wish to role play the way Gor once was. The council would screen these requestors and vote whether or not to allow access. Now that means everyone else would be giving up control. A hard concept for the others
While a few would be willing to give up that much control, the majority just might not for fear they would not be allowed in. Everyone is so worried about who someone was, they don't or won't focus on who the person is now. If serious about wanting roleplay, should it matter who someone is behind the screen? Yes some folks are the same no matter the character they play, but none is given a chance without being asked, who were you? So I am here for Gor, nothing less, nothing more, what say you?
No it does not matter O/one's past. I only role play with the person that is in front of Me now. There cannot be any prejudgement
The idea here as far as I can see isn't to exclude people as the more involved in this instance the better and we all want a bigger community of people, homes to grow and thrive and so on. The idea behind a council is simply to provide guidance and leadership. It could be limited to one per caste, one per home, one per sex it doesn't matter as the purpose is to get a group of people together that the rest of us have put in place. From there it is down to everyone to role-play their caste ..
in the right way and ensure the focus is on the RP, not OOC or previous char grudges and issues. Is that really that difficult for people to come together to do?
Not for me, I am all for it... even ready to jump in and get started... but first... off to work, hopefully, I will return to more plans in the works!
Ok I'm in. I will represent the caste of Bakers. I role play my caste to the fullest and constantly. So yep I can put forth myself in this to see how it goes as long as it is r/p, not ooc and just comparing what "old" gor was to what is here now. Old is out, new is in. Gor is gor. If the "Old" Gor was so spectacular, then where are the old goreans? Cause I'd definitely like to meet them and learn from what people call Gor. I would love to see what WAS represented. I'm all for GOR!!!
old Gor ,New Gor????? theres only Gor period
exactly! Why do I continue to hear of the "OLD" gor ways. Isn't gor just that. Gor! I keep wondering what the heck people speak on.
I miss that Warrior more and more every day. A true Man of the "Old" ways of Gor.
Rowan You are missed!!
if mari may dare say so......old and new Gor......surely it should be one and the same if A/all have followed the books. mari is relatively new to Gor but was drawn to it by the beauty of a slave initially. she continues to grow and learn from O/others and their r/p. If all this back biting and back stabbing continues there will be no Gor or r/p. Maybe now a time to start afresh and allow Gor to grow once more...........
mari has never known 'old Gor' but sincerely hopes that A/all can put aside their grievances to achieve the true meaning of Gor and r/p accordingly
I remember "Old Gor". That being said, this discussion isn't about old or new. It's about "current" Gor and the suggestion for a strictly roleplay general room. Respectfully, can we get back to that?
Mistress, if Gor wants to remain as civil in some respect, W/we need to start to communicate with each other. To forgive past grievances and move forward
